Artistic Director's Message - 2008 / 2009 Season
This promises to be another exciting and challenging year for the Airdrie Community Choir, with a variety of music and musical styles meant to delight and challenge not only us but also you, our audience. For the Christmas season we are once again looking forward to bringing together some of the diverse musical talent of Airdrie for our annual Singfest holiday concert. Capitalizing on the wonderful experience we had rehearsing and performing together last year, we will once again end this very special concert with a mass choir piece, joining forces with our guest choirs and uniting in song.
Our 24th Annual Spring Concert on May 2 and 3, 2009, is sure to delight and bring back memories. As always, we’ll perform a piece or two that is sure to surprise! This season, as we look forward to the City of Airdrie’s Centenary, we’ll present a number of works featuring Canadian composers and songwriters, including pieces by: Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Jimmy Rankin, R. Murray Schafer, Imant Raminsh, and Eleanor Daley.
Additionally, the Choir has been invited to perform in Calgary as guests of the Calgary Renaissance Singers & Players’ Virtue and Vice concert series. We will participate in the performance of works by Giovanni Gabrieli for four mixed choruses, a first for Calgary. We are very pleased and excited to have been asked to be involved in this large-scale production.
I hope you will join us for our 24th season!
Sincerely,

Jean-Louis Bleau |
